The Italians know practically nothing regarding the ?mission? in Lebanon that places them directly in the front lines and which can even more precariously than in the past be presented as a mission ?of peace?? This is the responsibility of an apparatus, the mass media, that uses programmed disinformation where authentic vacuities are presented.

In a functional democracy, one of the basic principals is that there should be the recognition of the right of individuals to hold their own opinion. This is often extended to groups, as is natural, since groups are nothing more than individuals who share things in common. The right to hold an opinion also entails the right to express that opinion, even if it is in dissent from the dominant or majority one.

It is now clear that as much as the Israeli Army doesn?t know how to win a war, the Israeli people do not know how to lose one. Already at the late stages of the recent wave of hostility in Lebanon the Israelis were desperately searching for a scapegoat, someone to blame, someone who would take personal responsibility for the humiliating Israeli collective defeat.

On 23 June, a group of 9 Palestinian men and women arrived in Italy, invited byvarious solidarity associations for a tour to share their culture and traditions as well as to communicate to others the situation in Palestine. SANABEL is the name of the group, meaning spike of grain; in Gaza, they participate together with many others in a political-cultural association that is present in the entire territory, ?Palestinian Progressive Youth Union? (PPYU). The aim of the association is the intervention and organisation of social-cultural activities among the youth and student population, which is forced to live in the harsh prison conditions of the Gaza Strip.
