Passport users topped 300 million (an impressive figure), and many retailers believed that it would help them overcome the "user registration problem" to improve enquiries and open their doors to that many users on a secure basis. Many other large web presences have pulled out of the scheme, and lets face it Microsoft Passports were handed out like candy - most registrants came through Hotmail as it was required for a free e-mail service. A free inbox for a customer is a small price to pay for "world domination on paper". Microsoft say they will continue to run the Passport service in the hope that it will be picked up again by other large service providers. Trackback(0)
