Memoirs of a Geisha

Bestselling books have a built in audience, making them very attractive to film producers. Often, when Hollywood adapts a popular bestseller to the screen, they are unable to capture the magic of the book.

Kentucky's Domain of Power, Greed and Corruption

Ms. Ellison's book is an interesting one, from the sheer fact that it tries to tackle head-on Kentucky's past, exposing the scandals, corruption and deceit which has occurred during the course of more than 100 years. It is true that quite a few of the issues and information Boles brings up have not generally been reported in the [relatively vast] literature which has been published on the most successful college basketball program in history. It also no doubt took courage for Ellison to examine more recent events and to force the powers that be to divulge this information.

Bluegrass

Few titles are published in the True Crime every year but new voices are rare. Anyone who cares about the genre has to wonder when the next Ted Olsen or Darcy O'Brien or Shana Alexander is going to arrive. Or wonder is they'll ever arrive at all. A new voice has arrived with Bluegrass.

No Room for Doubt

Angela Dove's debut book NO ROOM FOR DOUBT is a true story of how "one violent moment can changes lives--forever." If one expected Dove's first book to be a humorous jaunt, one would be mistaken, even though Dove has been writing humor columns for six years. Yet, when Jacque MacDonald asked Dove to write the story of her daughter's murder and the hunt for her murderer, Dove took on this task knowing that what she may find could forever alter the relationship she has with her family, most particularly with her Father, Harold Whitlock.

Our Little Secret

I read this book in a day, and I never do that!

I followed this case a little, but had no idea so much other stuff went on...who knew there was a serial killer in New Hampshire in the 60's? I thought this was just about high school kids who killed a man and almost got away with it.

Man o' War

While this book will be compared to Lauren Hillenbrand's Seabiscuit, probably to its detriment, it is exciting in its own way. Seabiscuit told a rags-to-riches story. Man O'War's story was a riches-to-riches tale and so lacks some of the suspense.
